10/10 2nd Year French 10/12/2020
Professional teaching skills and ability: Communication, voice, terminology, personal qualities & pupils’ responses.
Strict approach, harsh voice projected through the class, talks at students and doesn’t seem to give them much of a chance at trying before moving onto the next student. Had a nice response when students got the phrases correct the whole class would repeat them together.
Classroom management: Pupil activity, pupil behaviour.
Doesn’t give a moment of calmness, rises to the messing students which disrupts the whole class then leaving the majority of the pupils feeling awkward and don’t want to talk anymore to answer questions as now the class feels divided between teacher and students.
Presentation of learning content: Delivery of lesson, use of resources, visual aids, support studies.
Copies out on desk and revising straight away for the first 5 minutes and then her approach was to quiz the students the english translation and then they repeat the French translation back and she then repeats to make sure the pronunciation is correct.
Effectiveness of planning: Clarity of intentions, quality of learning content, presentation.
It’s obvious that she had hoped to cover a lot more in the class but due to the discipline problems they didn’t get as far which meant she gave homework and then they had to try it themselves without her really explaining it.
Assessment and evaluation of pupils work in class.
Homework and questioning works well in her class
